Opening DJs 11-1Am

This question recently came up twice and I wanted to address it... If you're an opening DJ for a Hip Hop based open format party.. Your selection should be: R&B and a little Old Hip Hop from 11-12 and uptempo R&B and some choice new songs 100Bpm-125Bpm from 12-1am... NO HITS... If you are opening for an Open Format House/Electro driven night.. You have a lot more range on what you can play.. R&B, Disco, Funk, House, Pop. But still, NO HITS.. You have to research music and you will find there are MILLIONS of songs you can open up with that the headlining DJ won't play.
